The best thing about this recipe is that you can add any protein you like and choose any pasta shape, preferably short. Combine the cooked pasta with tomato sauce, sprinkle with cheese, and bake until the cheese melts. This is a dinner the whole family will love!



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 2 tbsp. l. (30 gr.) olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • Half a medium onion, diced
  • 450 g of pasta, such as rigatoni, penne, fusilli, etc.
  • 900 g canned chopped tomatoes
  • Optional ingredients: canned tuna, canned salmon, frozen vegetables, or canned beans
  • 6 slices provolone or mozzarella

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan and add generous amounts of salt.
  2. Heat a medium saucepan over medium heat and add oil. Once the oil is hot, add the garlic and onion and cook, stirring, for 3 minutes.

  3. Meanwhile, add the pasta to the boiling water and cook for 3-4 minutes less than the package directions.
  4. Add the tomatoes to the pan with the onions and bring to a boil. Continue simmering. Any additional ingredients can be added at this point.
  5. Drain the pasta and toss it with the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Transfer to a baking dish and top with provolone or mozzarella. Bake until the cheese is melted, 3–5 minutes.
