A rich macaroni and cheese casserole is a traditional Southern dish, perfect for holidays and special occasions. Unlike standard mac and cheese, this version includes three types of cheese and is baked in the oven until crispy and golden. When combined with eggs, the cheese creates a wonderfully savory custard that literally envelops the macaroni.

Ingredients for the recipe:
- 450 g of pasta horns
- 5 large eggs
- 3.5 cups heavy cream
- 2.5 tsp Cajun seasoning
- 0.5 tsp ground mustard
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 450 g grated sharp cheddar
- 450 gr. whole milk mozzarella, grated
- 450 g of grated Gouda

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Preheat oven to 190°C. Bring a large saucepan of salted water to a boil.
- Cook the pasta according to package directions, 3 minutes less than directed. Drain and rinse under cold water until completely cool; drain thoroughly. Return the pasta to the pot.
- Place the eggs, heavy cream, Cajun seasoning, ground mustard, nutmeg, and a large pinch of salt in a medium bowl and whisk to combine. Pour the mixture over the pasta and toss to coat evenly.
- Combine the cheddar, mozzarella, and Gouda in a large bowl. Add the cheeses to the pan and toss to distribute evenly. Transfer the mac and cheese to a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Bake until set in the center and golden brown on top, 60-70 minutes. Let cool for about 10 minutes and serve.
