It's hard to resist such a delicious snack as battered onion rings. But if you're worried about the huge amount of calories and fat in deep-fried onions, there's a healthier alternative. Bake the rings in the oven. This method has two undeniable advantages: you don't have to tediously stand over the deep fryer frying the onions in batches, and secondly, you'll get a snack with less fat, but no less crispiness! Dip the onion rings in batter, roll them in baked potato chips, and pop them in the oven. Serve immediately as a beer appetizer, with soups, or in sandwiches.
The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:
- 1 - 2 large onions, peeled
- 4 cups baked potato chips
- 0.5 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 cup of low-fat yogurt or kefir
- 0.5 cups and 2 tablespoons of flour
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Preheat oven to 220°C.
- Lightly spray a baking sheet with olive oil. Place the potato chips in the bowl of a food processor and pulse for 20 seconds until crumbly. Transfer to a shallow bowl and sprinkle with cayenne pepper. In another bowl, combine sour milk, 2 tbsp. flour, salt and pepper.
Slice the onion into 1.5 cm wide rings and separate them, leaving only the larger ones. You should have approximately 12 to 14 rings. - Place the remaining flour in a zip-lock bag, add the onion rings, and shake well to coat them. Dip the onion rings one at a time into the liquid mixture, then roll them in the chips and place them on a baking sheet.
- Drizzle evenly with canola oil and bake for 20 minutes or until crispy. Season the finished rings with salt and serve immediately.
