Greek feta cheese, with its delicate texture, pairs beautifully with juicy fruits, offsetting their sweetness with its salty flavor and subtle tartness. Make a light appetizer by serving canapés of melon or watermelon cubes with feta cheese. Drizzle them with balsamic cream, which adds a tart and aromatic note, and serve with light spirits at a family celebration.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 block (350 g) of feta cheese
  • Half a white cantaloupe, seeded and rind removed and cut into 8 2.5cm cubes.
  • Half a cantaloupe melon, seeded and rind removed and cut into 8 2.5cm cubes.
  • 1/4 of a small seedless watermelon, rind removed and cut into 8 1-inch cubes.
  • 3 tbsp balsamic syrup (skip to recipe)
  • 12 fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Cut the feta into 24 cubes, making them slightly smaller than the melon cubes.
  2. To assemble canapesPlace each piece of cheese on each melon or watermelon cube and secure with toothpicks. Arrange the canapés on a serving platter and drizzle with balsamic syrup. Garnish with basil leaves.
