This aromatic, spiced cider is a wonderful warming drink on a chilly day and a great mood lifter. It's a lighter version of mulled wine, using American non-alcoholic cider—natural, unfiltered apple juice with no added sugar—instead of wine. The cider is simmered with brown sugar, spices, and a whole orange studded with cloves. Serve warm with a cinnamon stick. For adult mugs, add a splash of aromatic bourbon.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. In a large saucepan, heat the apple cider over medium heat. Add the brown sugar, allspice, and nutmeg, heat until the sugar dissolves, and bring to a gentle simmer.
  2. Insert the pointed ends of the cloves into the orange, leaving only the buds visible. The entire orange should be covered in cloves.

  3. Place the orange in the cider and reduce the heat. Cover and continue to simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Pour the spiced cider into warm mugs, garnishing with cinnamon sticks. For adults, add bourbon. Serve with pumpkin pie.
