Alton Brown's whiskey-based cocktail can be made in advance by heating the liqueur with lemon syrup in a slow cooker.


Ingredients:

  • 2.5 cups of Scotch whiskey
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced, plus extra for garnish
  • 1/2 cup demerara cane sugar
  • 1 liter of water
  • Freshly grated nutmeg
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

    Step 1
  • In a small 2-3 liter slow cooker, combine the lemon, sugar, and water and set the cooker to the highest temperature. Cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved, 20-30 minutes.

    Add the whiskey and stir. Reduce the heat to low and serve warm with a lemon wedge and freshly grated nutmeg.
