To make this quick yet sophisticated Italian-inspired appetizer, Jeff Mauro wrapped a cube of mozzarella in a basil leaf and nestled a small pickled picante pepper inside. "I like Gorgonzola because it's a little sweeter and milder than other blue cheeses. Plus, it's Italian, just like me!" Jeff laughs.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 12 slices soppressatta, cut in half
  • 150 g gorgonzola or other blue cheese, cut into 24 cubes
  • 24 small basil leaves (or 12 large ones, cut in half lengthwise)
  • 24 sweet pickled picante peppers, such as Peppadew
