Planter's punch is an American cocktail of rum, citrus, sugar, and spices that was invented in the late 19th century, but its origins remain unclear. Although hotels in Charleston and St. Louis claim credit for its creation, it most likely originated in Jamaica.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 90 ml of golden rum
  • 30 ml lime juice
  • 20 ml demerara syrup
  • 7 ml of grenadine
  • 2 drops of Angostura

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Combine 90ml of golden rum, 30ml of lime juice, 20ml of demerara syrup, 7ml of grenadine and 2 dashes of Angostura in a shaker with ice; shake well.
  2. Strain into a tall glass filled with ice. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a slice of pineapple.

    Demerara syrup:
    Heat equal parts granulated sugar and water in a saucepan until the sugar dissolves; let cool. Demerara sugar or honey can be used instead of granulated sugar.
