German placinta are pastries with a sweet pumpkin filling flavored with aromatic spices, popular among the "Russian Germans" who inhabit the state of North Dakota in the United States. Like all turnovers, these pastries are made using a special method: a generous portion of filling is placed on one half of a rolled-out dough circle, then topped with the other half. The edges are pressed together, and the turnovers are baked in the oven. These pastries are incredibly delicious and perfect for autumn tea, warming you with their warm aroma of pumpkin and cinnamon.
