Pumpkin pie, one of my favorite American desserts, is closely associated with that most wonderful time of year: Thanksgiving. On this holiday, regardless of race or religion, family and friends gather to remember how grateful they are for one another. Pumpkin oatmeal—what could be a better way to start the holiday?

Oatmeal with pumpkin and pumpkin seeds.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 2 cups of oatmeal
  • 400 gr. pumpkin puree
  • 2 tbsp of water
  • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk or water
  • 2 tablespoons raisins
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice or 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp ground cardamom, 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
  • Honey or maple sugar for serving
  • Whipped cream

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a large saucepan over high heat, combine pumpkin puree, water, almond milk, raisins, salt and seasoning. Bring to a boil.

    Add the oats. Reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring frequently.
  2. In a small cast-iron skillet over medium heat, toast the pumpkin seeds until fragrant and golden brown, about 10 minutes.

    Once the oatmeal is cooked, serve it with honey or maple sugar, pumpkin seeds, and whipped cream.
