This vegetarian burger will satisfy even meat-eaters looking for something new. Instead of ground beef, the patty uses black beans. You can boil them or use canned ones. Mash the beans with a fork to create a chunky paste. Breadcrumbs and an egg help bind the "mince," onions add juiciness, and chili powder imbues it with amazing flavor and aroma. Pan-fry the patty and serve on a mayonnaise-smeared bun with a slice of tomato and a green salad.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 2 cups cooked black beans, drained and mashed with a fork
  • 1 cup spiced breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 0.5 tsp chili spice mix
  • 1 egg
  • Canola oil to grease the grill pan
  • 1 - 2 Kaiser rolls
  • Arugula, for assembly
  • Tomato slices, for assembly
  • Mayonnaise, for assembly

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


    Veggie Burger Mix

  1. In a medium bowl, mash the beans.
  2. Ground meat for a vegetarian burger

  3. Add spiced breadcrumbs, grated onion, chili spice mix, an egg and a little salt and black pepper.

  4. Bean mix for veggie burger

  5. Add some water.
  6. Vegetarian cutlets

  7. Form the mixture into one large (or 2 small) patties.

  9. Place on a plate.
  10. Vegetarian cutlets in a frying pan

  11. Heat a grill pan over medium-high heat and add a little canola oil. Add the patties and cook for 4 minutes.

  13. Turn over and add a slice of cheese, fry for 4 minutes.

  15. Cover with another pan and let steam for 2 minutes.
  16. Sauce for buns

  17. Meanwhile, mix mayonnaise with a splash of hot sauce and spread it on the buns. Serve the vegetarian patties on buns with arugula and tomato slices.
