Shandy is a classic combination of beer and lemonade. The drink is loved worldwide for its refreshing, light taste. In this version, spicy ginger syrup and freshly squeezed lemon harmoniously complement the hoppy notes of India pale ale, while the soda adds invigorating bubbles. The ginger syrup can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator. Use any leftovers in other drinks and desserts.

3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

- 0.5 cups of sugar
- 5 cm ginger root, peeled and coarsely grated
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 120 ml chilled sparkling water
- 1 bottle (0.33 l) of chilled India Pale Ale
- 2 lemon wedges, for serving

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- In a small saucepan, heat the sugar, ginger, and 0.5 cups of water over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, stir, and dissolve the sugar. Remove from heat and let steep and cool for 15 minutes, then strain the syrup (you should have about 3/4 cup). Set aside the remaining ginger syrup for another use.
- In a large liquid measuring cup, combine 1/4 cup ginger syrup with lemon juice. Add club soda. Pour the drink into two chilled glasses. Pour half the beer into each glass. Garnish each cocktail with a lemon wedge and serve.
