Molasses gives this spicy barbecue sauce a wonderfully sweet flavor, perfectly balanced by the tartness of apple cider vinegar. The sauce cooks quickly and is perfect for pork ribs, chicken, pork shoulder, and any other meat, whether you grill it or bake it in the oven—the liquid smoke ensures a smoky flavor either way.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1.5 cups ketchup
  • 0.5 cup molasses
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp. l. brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp liquid smoke

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, molasses, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, mustard powder, salt, pepper, and liquid smoke.
  2. Bring to a simmer over low heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Let cool to room temperature before using. Brush the sauce over the meat as it cooks.
