The traditional American barbecue sauce pairs perfectly with meat dishes, especially grilled ones. There are many variations of this sauce, and the ingredients can vary significantly, but vinegar and tomato paste are almost always present in some form. This recipe adds a dash of Tabasco and a little brown sugar to the homemade barbecue sauce, along with the spices, to achieve a piquant, sweet-and-spicy flavor.
