A light, quick, and healthy dinner that will also be remembered for its interesting flavor. Rub chicken with spices and fry, then simmer with apples and onions in a small amount of honey broth. The chicken and apples will acquire a pleasant golden color thanks to the added turmeric and a light, delicious honey glaze. Swiss chard, a leafy relative of beets rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber, sautéed in garlic butter makes an excellent side dish to the meat dish. Sauté the chard for a few minutes, starting with the denser stems and then adding the leaves, so they just wilt and retain their beneficial properties. Arrange the greens on a plate and top with a piece of chicken and apples.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Rub the chicken with 0.5 teaspoon salt, a pinch of black pepper, allspice, and turmeric. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until golden brown, 3-4 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  2. Add the apples, onion, and a pinch of salt to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples are softened and lightly browned, about 4 minutes.

  3. Add lemon juice to the pan and cook, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom, for 30 seconds. Pour in the chicken broth and honey. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to maintain a simmer. Arrange the chicken on top of the apple mixture. Cover and simmer until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has reduced slightly, 6 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, in another large nonstick skillet, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon and 2 teaspoons olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, until golden, about 30 seconds.
  5. Add the chard stems and season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring, until softened, 3 minutes. Then add the chard leaves; cook, stirring, until wilted, about 2 minutes. Serve with the chicken and apples.
