This quick and simple fruit salad of thinly sliced ​​red and green apples acquires a sophisticated aroma and flavor thanks to a dressing of orange confit, almond extract, and dried cherries. The combination of different apple varieties also adds an interesting flavor to the appetizer. Crumble shortbread cookies on top for texture and a slightly richer flavor and serve for dessert, as a light snack, or as an accompaniment to champagne.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 3 tbsp. orange confiture
  • A little almond extract
  • A pinch of coarse salt
  • 1 medium red apple
  • 1 medium green apple
  • 1 tbsp dried cherries, coarsely chopped
  • 1 small shortbread cookie, crumbled

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Combine orange confit, almond extract, salt and 2 teaspoons water in a bowl.
  2. Place the apples on a cutting board. Separate the cores by cutting off 4 apple "cheeks" from each apple. Discard the cores. Slice the cores very thinly and add to the bowl with the jam, stirring to combine. Divide the apples among 4 serving bowls and sprinkle each serving with dried cherries and crumbled cookies.
