Besides the traditional way of eating radishes raw, you can also microwave them. Cut the radishes in half and bake them in butter until crispy-soft, mellowing out their bitter flavor. Drizzle the cooked radishes with honey, sprinkle with peeled, salted pumpkin seeds for a richer flavor and crunch, garnish with chives, and serve as a side dish with meat or chicken.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 450 g medium radish (about 20 pcs.)
  • 3 tbsp (45 g) butter
  • 1 tbsp thinly sliced ​​green onions or chives
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 tbsp roasted salted pumpkin seeds, peeled

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Trim the radishes at both ends and cut them in half lengthwise. (Cut very large radishes into quarters to ensure even cooking.) Place the butter and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a 2-quart baking dish. Microwave on high power until the butter melts, 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  2. Remove the dish from the microwave and add the radishes, gently tossing to coat. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and poke 6 small holes with a sharp knife. Cook on high power for 5 minutes. Carefully remove the wrap and toss the radishes. Cover again and cook on high power until the radishes are tender, about 5 minutes. Carefully remove the wrap and stir in the onion and honey. Transfer the radishes to a serving bowl and drizzle with the remaining cooking oil. Sprinkle with pumpkin seeds and serve immediately.
