Time: 25 min.
Complexity: easily
Quantity: 40 skewers

Appetizers and dishes on skewers always look unique and are a real draw for guests. You don't need a grill or barbecue for these mini skewers. Beef cubes are pan-fried and then skewered with toothpicks. Serve the skewers (or canapés) as an appetizer with an Asian dipping sauce in the center. A great idea for a quick treat when time is short!

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Beef:

Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Season the beef with 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Cook the beef (in batches if necessary, being careful not to overcrowd the pan) on all sides until medium-rare, 2-3 minutes.
  2. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil and set aside to cool.

  3. Meanwhile, prepare the dipping sauce.:

In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, lime zest and juice, vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, red pepper flakes, and some salt and black pepper.
  4. Thread the beef pieces onto toothpicks (2 pieces each). Sprinkle with cilantro and serve with the sauce.
