Milk punch with brandy gained popularity in the American colonies when it was considered a cold cure. Although its medicinal properties were questionable, the drink became a popular hangover cure at Brennan's in New Orleans, and it's now featured on nearly every brunch menu in the city. This recipe, featuring golden rum, is a tropical twist on the original. The cocktail features simple syrup with natural vanilla. It can be made ahead of time and refrigerated.
