If you love jam cookies but don't have the time to make them, this recipe is your friend: simply form two large logs of dough, spread a long strip of jam down the center, and bake. Once done, simply slice them. Use different types of jam or preserves to create a beautiful assortment.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 2 cups premium flour
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 165 g unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 0.5 cups of sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp finely grated lemon zest
  • 4 - 6 tbsp. l. jam or confiture (any taste)

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar with a mixer on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, 3-5 minutes. Beat in the egg, then the vanilla extract and lemon zest. Reduce the mixer speed to low, add the flour mixture, and knead until the dough forms a soft texture.
  2. Divide the dough into 4 pieces and place 2 pieces on each prepared baking sheet. Form each piece into a 30 x 2.5 cm log, approximately 8 cm apart. Using the handle of a wooden spoon or your finger, make a 1 cm deep groove down the center of each log. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

  3. Position racks in the upper and lower thirds of the oven and preheat to 375°F (190°C). Bake, rotating the baking sheets halfway through, until golden brown, 20-25 minutes. Let cool completely on the baking sheets, then transfer to a cutting board and slice crosswise into 1-inch-wide slices.
