A step-by-step recipe for a romantic dinner.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 450 g of pasta, such as penne
  • 1 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • 1 tbsp (15 g) butter
  • 2 cloves of garlic, pressed with a knife blade and chopped
  • 2 shallots, chopped
  • 1 cup of vodka
  • 1 tbsp. chicken broth
  • 900 g tomato sauce from pureed tomatoes
  • Coarse salt and ground pepper
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream 33%
  • 20 fresh basil leaves, torn
  • Toasted bread

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Heat a large skillet and add the oil, butter, garlic, and shallots. Reduce the heat and cook until the shallots caramelize with their own sweetness, 3-5 minutes.

    Pour in the vodka and begin to reduce by about half, this will take 2-3 minutes. Add the chicken broth and tomatoes and bring the sauce to a boil; season with salt and pepper.
  2. Meanwhile, cook the pasta until al dente. While the pasta is cooking, make some vegetable slices or toast.

  3. Return to your sauce and pour in the cream, bring to a boil again, and remove from heat. Add the cooked pasta and tear the basil leaves on top. Serve the pasta with crusty bread.

    The dish is paired with red Sangiovese wine.
