This vibrant summer appetizer will impress not only with its striking appearance but also with its combination of flavors. Wooden skewers are alternately skewered with watermelon cubes, cherry tomatoes, and basil leaves. A must-have ingredient is balsamic syrup, made from balsamic vinegar and sugar. It will bind the flavors together. Make sure your watermelon is seedless to ensure the appetizer doesn't overwhelm your guests. The result is a deliciously juicy treat. Arrange the skewers on a platter and serve them as an appetizer at a house party. They're thirst-quenching, hunger-quenching, and refreshing in the summer heat, all while looking just like a restaurant.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- In a small saucepan, combine the balsamic vinegar and sugar and heat over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves. Turn off the heat and set aside to cool.
- Thread a watermelon cube onto a skewer, pulling it to the very tip. Then thread a basil leaf onto the skewer, followed by a tomato half. Next, thread another watermelon cube, a basil leaf, and a tomato half. Place the skewer on a plate so it stands upright on the base of the first watermelon cube. Assemble the remaining skewers in the same manner.
- Drizzle the skewers with the prepared balsamic syrup and olive oil. Sprinkle with coarse salt. Serve.
