Although these rolls don't contain rice or fish and taste more like sandwiches, they're still fun to make, especially with kids. Giada De Laurentiis presented two roll variations—prosciutto and mozzarella, turkey and cheddar—but you can try combining any deli meats and cheeses you have on hand.
The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:
Sushi with prosciutto and mozzarella
- 3 slices of whole grain bread, 1 cm thick, 7 x 12 cm in size, crusts trimmed
- 2 tbsp mascarpone at room temperature
- 3 thin slices prosciutto
- 1 ball (110 g) fresh mozzarella, pat dry and cut into 6 sticks 4 cm long and 1 cm thick.
- 6 small pickled cucumbers, ends trimmed
- 1 piece of carrot 7 cm long, peeled and cut into sticks 0.5 cm thick.
Turkey and Cheddar Sushi
- 3 slices of whole grain bread, 1 cm thick, 7 x 12 cm in size, crusts trimmed
- 2 tbsp mascarpone at room temperature
- 3 thin slices cooked turkey
- 1 piece of cheddar (55 g), cut into 4 x 1 cm sticks.
- 3 green beans, blanched, ends trimmed
- 1 piece of carrot 7 cm long, peeled and cut into sticks 0.5 cm thick.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Sushi with prosciutto and mozzarella:
Place the bread slices on a work surface. Roll them out with a rolling pin to a thickness of 0.5 cm. Spread 1 teaspoon of mascarpone on one side of each slice and top with 1 slice of prosciutto. Use scissors to trim the prosciutto to fit the bread. - Spread each slice of prosciutto with another 1 teaspoon of mascarpone. Place 2 cheese sticks end to end along the narrow edge of the bread. Place 2 pickles end to end in front of the cheese. Place a carrot stick between the pickle and cheese. Starting at the filled end, roll the bread into a log, pressing gently. Using a sharp knife, cut each roll into 3 pieces.
- Turkey and Cheddar Sushi:
Place the bread slices on a work surface. Roll them out with a rolling pin to a thickness of 0.5 cm. Brush one side of each slice with 1 teaspoon of mascarpone and top with 1 slice of turkey. - Trim the turkey with scissors to fit the bread. Brush each slice of turkey with another 1 teaspoon of mascarpone. Place 2 cheese sticks end to end along the narrow edge of the bread. Place green beans on top of the cheese.
- Place a carrot stick next to the green beans. Starting from the filled end, roll the bread into a roll, pressing gently. Using a sharp knife, cut each roll into 3 pieces.
- Place the sushi on a platter and serve.
