If you love unusual handmade candies, try this chocolate toffee flavored with chipotle peppers and smoked jalapeño. The toffee is made with semisweet chocolate and sweetened condensed milk. Melt the mixture in a double boiler, add the chipotle peppers, and let it harden again in the baking pan. Don't forget to sprinkle the surface of the toffee with coarse sea salt. This will help bring out the milk chocolate and chipotle flavors better. The sweetness of the toffee will slightly counteract the spiciness of the peppers, leaving you with a pleasant warming aftertaste.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 3 tbsp. semi-sweet chocolate granules
  • 1 can (400 g) of condensed milk with sugar
  • 1 can chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, finely chopped + 1 tsp adobo sauce
  • Coconut oil cooking spray to coat the foil
  • Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Line a 20x20 cm square baking pan with foil and smooth the surface. Spray the foil with coconut oil.
  2. Combine chocolate chips, condensed milk, chipotle pepper, and adobo sauce in a bowl and heat over medium heat, stirring, until chocolate is melted and smooth, 5 to 7 minutes.

  3. Immediately pour the mixture into a foil-lined pan. Smooth the surface with an offset spatula, then sprinkle with sea salt. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Cut the toffee into small squares.
