Crispy corn tortillas are served with sautéed ground turkey, flavorful spices, vegetables, and sour cream for a delicious Mexican-inspired dinner the whole family will love. If you can't find tostadas, simply fry the small tortillas in oil for a crispy finish.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 8 tostadas (small crispy tortillas)
  • 1 tsp chili-lime seasoning (lime zest, salt, and chili seasoning)
  • 2 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • 1 carrot, grated on a coarse grater
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 450 g of ground turkey
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 2/3 cup sour cream
  • Shredded lettuce, diced tomato, sliced avocado, and grated cheddar for topping

We recommend

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the tostadas on a rimmed baking sheet and bake until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with chili-lime seasoning while still warm; set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add carrots, garlic, and a pinch of salt and black pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the carrots are golden brown, about 3 minutes.

  3. Add the turkey and cook, breaking up the ground meat with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Push everything to the sides of the pan and add the tomato paste, chili powder, and cumin to the center. Cook, stirring, until the paste darkens a shade, about 30 seconds, then stir in the turkey. Cook, stirring, for about 1 minute more. Add 1/4 cup water and cook until cooked through, about 1 minute. Remove from heat and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Spread sour cream on the tostadas, then add the turkey. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and cheese.

    Culinary note

To add vegetables to a meat dish, add grated carrots to the ground meat, as we did here. Carrots can be added to meatballs, meatloaf, and Sloppy Joe sandwich filling.
