Pan-fried German bratwurst sausages with cabbage are a quick and delicious dinner packed with flavor. The addition of sliced apple and the apple juice in which the sausages are simmered adds a pleasant, subtle sweetness. The onion, caraway, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper add a rich, multifaceted flavor. Enjoy with a cold beer.

Ingredients for the recipe:
- 0.9 kg bratwurst sausages (about 10 pcs.)
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 0.5 cup apple juice
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 340 gr. fresh coleslaw mix
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of cumin
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 apple, thinly sliced

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Place a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add vegetable oil and heat until shimmering.
- Carefully place the sausages in the pan and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides, 6-8 minutes. Add the apple juice and reduce the heat to medium. Cover the pan with a lid and cook until the sausages are cooked through, about 10 more minutes. Remove them and set them aside, reserving any juices and fat in the pan.
- Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Add the coleslaw, apple cider vinegar, cumin, and red pepper flakes, season with salt and pepper, and stir. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the kale wilts, about 5 more minutes. Add the sliced apples and cook for 2 minutes.
- Return the sausages to the pan and serve.
