This complete meal is made with just five ingredients. All-natural chicken sausages are pan-fried for a beautiful crust and served with red cabbage braised with apples and red onions in a little apple cider vinegar. The dish is sweet and tart, perfect for warming up on a chilly day. For a more filling meal, serve with steamed quinoa or garlic toast.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Heat a large, wide-bottomed saucepan over medium heat. Add 2 teaspoons of neutral, high-heat frying oil, such as canola or grapeseed oil. When the oil begins to shimmer, add the sausage and cook on one side for about 3 minutes. Flip and cook on the other side for 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook on one side, if possible, for about 2 minutes. Remove from the pan.
- Add the apple, onion, and cabbage to the pan and stir, scraping up any browned bits with a wooden spoon. Cook, stirring occasionally and reducing the heat as needed, for about 10 minutes. Add the vinegar, 1/4 cup water (or broth for flavor, if using), and 1/4 teaspoon each of salt and black pepper.
- Place the sausage on top. Cover and simmer until the fruits and vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes. Slice the sausage into rounds on a cutting board and serve with cabbage.
