Braised turnips with edamame beans are a simple, delicious, and healthy side dish, rich in protein and dietary fiber. They pair perfectly with festive meats or roasted poultry. The turnips are braised in a small amount of water and butter, and then, once the water has evaporated, they are topped with a delicious butter glaze along with the beans.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Simmer 1 bunch of small turnips, peeled and quartered, with 2 tablespoons of butter, a pinch of sugar and salt, and 1/3 cup of water, covered, for 5 minutes.
  2. Add 1 pound (450 g) of peeled edamame beans, 1 tablespoon (1 tbsp) of butter, and the white parts of three scallions, cut into pieces; cover and simmer for 2 minutes, then remove the lid and cook until the water has evaporated. Add the green parts of the scallions and let them wilt.
