This classic cocktail contains tomato juice, vodka, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt, Tabasco, horseradish, and grated onion. All the ingredients are perfectly balanced, resulting in a rich and complex flavor. This recipe makes a pitcher of Bloody Mary, serving six. Serve very chilled with a celery stick. A perfect treat for Sunday brunch and an effective hangover cure!



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 3 large stalks celery with leaves (from the core of the bunch) + extra for serving
  • 1 liter of tomato juice
  • 2 tsp of prepared horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon grated onion on a fine grater
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 0.5 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 tsp celery salt (a mixture of salt and celery seed powder)
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 12 drops hot sauce (such as Tabasco), or to taste
  • 1.5 cups of vodka

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Chop the celery into large cubes, including the leaves, and puree in a food processor fitted with a steel blade. In a large pitcher, combine all remaining ingredients except the vodka. With the food processor running, pour 1/4 of the tomato juice mixture through the feed tube.
  2. Then pour the contents of the bowl into the pitcher with the remaining tomato juice mixture. Add the vodka and refrigerate. Serve in tall glasses with ice and a celery stick.
