This individual cake gets its name not only from its amazing tea flavor, but also from its beautiful presentation in teacups. It's baked in the same cups in the microwave. The dessert is ready in minutes. Serve the cups on saucers, garnishing each serving with whipped cream and cinnamon.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • Unsalted butter, room temperature, for greasing the cups
  • 0.5 cups of milk
  • 1 bag of black tea, such as Earl Grey
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 0.5 tsp natural vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cups premium flour
  • 1/8 tsp baking soda
  • A pinch of fine salt
  • Whipped cream for serving
  • Ground cinnamon for serving

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Grease 4 microwave-safe tea cups with butter. Pour the milk into a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high power until very hot, 1-2 minutes. Steep the tea bag in the hot milk for about 4 minutes. Remove the tea bag and whisk in the sugar, butter, egg, lemon juice, and vanilla until smooth, about 2 minutes.
  2. Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Divide the batter among the prepared cups, filling them about two-thirds full. Microwave one portion at a time until the cake has risen and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 2 minutes; let cool slightly. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
