Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Bread:

In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, combine the flour, sugar, 4 tablespoons butter, eggs, yeast, salt, and 2 tablespoons warm water. Mix on medium speed until the dough is smooth and combined, about 4 minutes. Transfer to a large bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 2 hours.
  2. Meanwhile, grease the inside of a 10- to 12-cup muffin tin with the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and sprinkle evenly with sesame seeds. Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down and divide it into 4 equal-sized pieces. Place the pieces in the tin and cover with plastic wrap. Let the dough rise to 1/2 inch above the rim of the tin, 30-45 minutes.

  3. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Once the dough has risen, remove the plastic wrap. Bake until golden brown and a thermometer inserted into the center of the loaf reaches 185°F (85°C), about 40 minutes.
  4. Remove the bread from the oven and immediately invert it onto a wire rack to cool. Once the bread has cooled, cut it horizontally into three equal pieces. Take the middle piece of bread and cut it in half horizontally again; this will make serving easier.
  5. Increase the oven temperature to 260°C. Place a rack on a rimmed baking sheet.
  6. Sauce:

In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika until smooth; set aside.
  7. Burger:

Line a 20cm (8-inch) round baking pan with foil. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of salt and freshly ground black pepper. Place half of the ground beef in the pan, press firmly, and sprinkle with another 2 teaspoons of salt and black pepper. Remove the patty from the pan using the foil and flatten it with your hands until it's about 22cm (9-inch) in diameter. Flip the patty over onto one side of the rack. Repeat with the remaining beef.
  8. Place the patties in the oven and bake until golden brown around the edges and a thermometer inserted into the center registers approximately 145°F (65°C), 15-20 minutes. Spread the cheese evenly over the top and bake until melted, another 2-3 minutes. Remove the patties from the oven and let them rest while you prepare the bun.
  9. Spread half the sauce on the bottom of the bread. Top with half the onions, tomatoes, and pickles. Transfer one patty to the bread and spread half the lettuce on top. Place the middle slices of bread on top and spread with the remaining sauce. Spread with the remaining onions, tomatoes, and pickles. Transfer the remaining patty to the bread and spread with the remaining lettuce. Top with the bread and serve with fries.
  10. To make the burger easier to serve, split the bread down the middle so you have two burgers with one patty each.
