Ingredients for the recipe:
- 1 (2 kg) pork leg with bone
- 450 g dried lima beans or white beans
- 1 can (800 g) of canned whole fried tomatoes
- 1 tbsp. ground red pepper
- 2 tsp dried pepper flakes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 bay leaf
- 4 sprigs of fresh thyme
- 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 bunch of green onions, cut into rings
- 4 cloves garlic, sliced

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- In a 5-6-quart heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, ground red pepper flakes, and red pepper flakes. Add the pork ham, beans, bay leaf, and thyme. Pour in 4 cups of water, cover, and simmer over low heat for 8 hours.
- Place the tomatoes in a bowl and mash with a spoon. Add them to the pork ham, then the green onions. Cover and simmer for another 30 minutes.
- Remove the pork butt from the pan and place it on a cutting board. Let it cool and slice thinly. Divide the meat and beans among servings.
