Despite the simplicity of the process, cooking perfectly fluffy rice isn't always easy for everyone. Follow this foolproof recipe, and you'll always get tender, non-sticky rice that's perfect for serving as a side dish, even on a holiday table.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 0.5 tsp coarse salt

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Combine rice, salt, and 1.5 cups of water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until all the liquid is absorbed, about 18 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and let the rice sit, covered, for 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.

    Note

    If using basmati rice, soak it in cold water and let it sit, covered, for 30 minutes. Then drain and cook as directed.
