Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Combine rice, salt, and 1.5 cups of water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until all the liquid is absorbed, about 18 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let the rice sit, covered, for 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve.
Note
If using basmati rice, soak it in cold water and let it sit, covered, for 30 minutes. Then drain and cook as directed.
