Pitmaster Bob Gibson first used this now-famous table sauce at Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q in Decatur, Alabama, nearly 100 years ago. Those who continue his legacy believe the mayonnaise-based sauce was Bob's signature way of keeping chicken moist for hours while simmering on the corners.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1.5 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1 small clove of garlic, grated
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • A pinch of sugar
  • Hot sauce

We recommend

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, garlic, onion powder, sugar, and a few drops of hot sauce; season with salt to taste.
  2. Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes or up to 24 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
