Even if you only have cabbage, you can make a delicious side dish that pairs perfectly with roast pork, corned beef, or steak. Simply cut the cabbage into wedges, brush with oil, sprinkle with cumin, and roast in the oven until the outer leaves are charred. The blackened leaves acquire a rich, spicy flavor that complements the more tender center perfectly. Serve the cabbage directly from the wedges.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 small head of Savoy cabbage, cut into 8 wedges
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tsp cumin

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Preheat oven to 200°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the cabbage wedges on the baking sheet.
  2. Combine melted butter and olive oil in a bowl and brush the cabbage wedges with it. Sprinkle with cumin, 1 teaspoon salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Spray the baking sheet with 2 tablespoons water. Bake until the cabbage is very tender and crispy around the edges, 30-35 minutes. Transfer to a serving platter and season with salt.
