Follow Sunny Anderson's recipe and cook Brussels sprouts in the same pan you used to fry the bacon—this way, the sprouts will absorb the rich bacon flavor as they brown.


Ingredients:

  • 450 g Brussels sprouts, halved
  • 4 strips thick-cut bacon
  • 2 tbsp (30 g) butter
  • 1/2 large onion, chopped
  • Salt and ground black pepper
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

    Step 1
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, fry the bacon until crisp. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate, then coarsely chop.

    In the same skillet with the rendered bacon fat, melt the butter over high heat. Add the onion and Brussels sprouts and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sprouts are golden brown, 8-10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste and toss directly into the skillet with the bacon. Serve immediately.
