Make these sandwiches with a thick meat sauce instead of patties when you're craving a new flavor experience. Ground beef is simmered in a tomato sauce with spices, including chili peppers, and raisins, infusing it with a rich, sweet and spicy flavor. Once the sauce has thickened sufficiently, spoon it onto buns and top with any toppings you like. Juicy mango slices, spicy jalapeños, fresh tomato, herbs, and cheese are all good choices.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef, bell pepper, and onion; cook for 8-10 minutes, breaking up any clumps of ground beef into 2-cm pieces and stirring occasionally. Drain off any fat.
  2. Add tomato sauce, water, raisins, ancho chili, and oregano; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15–18 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly, stirring occasionally.

  3. Spread the meat mixture evenly over the bottom half of each bun. Add any desired toppings and close the sandwiches.

    Note

Cooking times are based on fresh or well-defrosted ground beef. The internal temperature of the meat should be at least 160°F (70°C); don't rely solely on color.
