For this snack, use any nuts you like. Arbol chili pepper will add a pleasant heat, while sugar will impart a caramel note. And the egg white will help seal all the spices onto the nuts, ensuring maximum flavor.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 3 cups of mixed nuts
  • 6 chopped dried arbol chili peppers
  • 1/4 tsp orange zest

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Grind 0.5 teaspoon each of cumin and coriander seeds in a spice grinder.
  2. Beat 2 egg whites to soft peaks; add spices, 2 teaspoons coarse salt, 6 chopped dried arbol chiles, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/4 teaspoon orange zest, 3 cups mixed nuts, and 3 tablespoons diced butter. Place on a baking sheet.

  3. Bake at 160°C (325°F), stirring occasionally, for 45-50 minutes. Let cool. Crumble the chili for extra heat and serve.
