Beef fillet pieces simmered in a sweet and spicy Asian sauce with pineapple and onions, creating a juicy, delicious appetizer for any occasion. This recipe is suitable for both the slow cooker and the oven. Serve as canapés, skewering each piece of steak.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (220 g) canned pineapple chunks in juice, lightly drained
  • 1/3 cup sweet Asian chili sauce
  • 0.5 tsp lightly salted soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper (or more, to taste)
  • 1 lb (450 g) filet mignon or leanest beef sirloin, cut into about 30 bite-sized pieces
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • Cherry tomatoes, for serving (optional)
  • Special equipment: slow cooker
Substituting ingredients
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Preparation:

    Step 1
  • Place pineapple, chili sauce, soy sauce, and crushed red pepper in a slow cooker. Stir.
  • Step 2
  • Season the beef with 1/8 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper and add to the slow cooker. Add the onion and stir to coat.
  • Step 3
  • Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 7-8 hours. If cooking in the oven, bake the beef, covered, at 325°F (160°C) for 3-4 hours.
  • Step 4
  • Sprinkle with additional red pepper flakes, if desired, and serve with tomatoes and slow cooker sauce.
