Almost all biscuit recipes call for very cold butter to be quickly mixed with flour until it begins to melt. This variation breaks all the rules! Here's a recipe for the easiest flaky biscuits, where you spoon the dough directly into the baking pan. No rolling pin, no refrigerator, no cookie cutter required. The secret is to pour a little melted butter into the dough, which soaks into the biscuits and seeps through as they bake, creating a delicate, flaky texture. Immediately drizzle the hot biscuits with honey and sprinkle with sea salt. Serve warm for breakfast with butter and jam. They're simply divine!

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 2.5 cups premium flour
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons coarse salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 110 g melted unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons of honey

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Preheat oven to 230°C.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and coarse salt in a large bowl. Pour in the buttermilk and use a wooden spoon to mix into a thick dough, but do not overmix.

  3. Spread the butter in a 20x20 cm baking dish. Place the dough in the dish.
  4. Using a butter knife, cut the dough into 9 equal squares. Bake for 22–25 minutes, until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Remove the buns from the oven and drizzle with honey. Sprinkle with sea salt and let cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes. Then slice and serve with butter and jam.
