A mix of pecans, peanuts, and almonds combines a crisp, sugary crust with a barbecue flavor that balances savory, sweet, spicy, salty, and smoky notes. To make this mix, the nuts are coated with a beaten egg white and a perfectly proportioned spice mix and baked in the oven until they're coated in a delicious, savory crust. It makes a great snack to accompany drinks or a quick on-the-go snack. You can even pour the mix into a pretty jar and give it as a gift to friends. Make several servings—they go fast!

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Preheat oven to 160°C. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  2. Beat 1 egg white in a large bowl until foamy. Add the nuts and toss to coat evenly. Add the spice mixture and toss to coat. Spread the nuts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake, stirring occasionally, until toasted and dry, about 25 minutes.

  3. Let the nuts cool completely on the baking sheet (they will crisp up as they cool). Break up any clumps that may be stuck together.
