Soak thin strips of bacon in tequila, then bake them in the oven, topped with a mixture of brown sugar, chili peppers, and smoked chipotle peppers, which add a smoky note to the caramelized, salty flavor of the candied bacon.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 450 g bacon strips
  • 1 cup tequila
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 0.5 tsp chili powder
  • 0.5 tsp ground chipotle pepper

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Combine bacon and tequila in a large bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or up to 8 hours.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Pat the bacon dry. Combine the brown sugar, chili powder, and chipotle powder on a large plate and spread into an even layer. Press both sides of each bacon strip into the sugar mixture, then place them on the prepared baking sheets. Sprinkle with the remaining sugar mixture.

  3. Bake until the bacon is golden and glazed, turning once, 30-35 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
