This appetizer for a crowd is made similarly to Mexican nachos, but with French fries instead of chips. Place the cooked fries on a baking sheet, top with chili con carne sauce, add nacho cheese sauce, sprinkle with herbs, and serve in the center of the table!



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 package (800-900 g) of frozen ribbed French fries
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt + more to taste
  • 3 tbsp. l. olive oil
  • Half an onion, chopped
  • 1 clove of garlic, grated
  • 3 tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tbsp. l. ground cumin
  • 450 g of ground beef with 20% fat content
  • 2 tbsp. quality marinara sauce
  • 1 can (425 g) cheese sauce for nachos
  • 3 green onions, sliced ​​diagonally
  • 1/4 cup pickled jalapeño rings

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. Line a baking sheet with foil. Place the fries in a single layer on the baking sheet. Bake according to package directions. Season with salt.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic, chili powder, and cumin and cook until fragrant, 1-2 minutes.

  3. Add the ground beef, salt, and a few grinds of black pepper and cook, breaking up the ground beef, until browned, 8-10 minutes. Add the marinara sauce and toss to coat. Cook for another 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Heat the nacho cheese sauce until heated through. Top the fries with the nacho sauce and cheese sauce, then sprinkle with green onions and jalapeño slices.
