While Hawaiian pizza is considered an exotic flavor, the salty-sweet combination of pineapple and ham has many fans. This recipe is perfect for camping, provided you have a cast-iron sandwich maker for the fire. It's made with only ingredients that travel well in a cooler and can be found at almost any market. You sandwich the filling between two pieces of dough, seal it in the sandwich maker, and grill it over the fire. Keep the sandwich maker close enough to the flame to ensure a crispy crust, but be careful not to burn it, and flip it frequently. A little patience, and you'll be rewarded with a delicious pizza!

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Light a campfire or charcoal grill to medium-high heat.
- Unroll the pizza dough and cut it into 8 equal pieces, about the size of a sandwich maker. Open the sandwich maker and place one piece of dough on one half. Add 1 slice of pineapple, 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce, 1 tablespoon of ham, and 2 tablespoons of mozzarella. Place another piece of dough on top and pinch the top and bottom dough together to seal.
- Close the sandwich maker and cook over a campfire or grill, turning every 2 to 3 minutes, until golden brown, about 8 minutes total, depending on heat.
- Transfer the pizza to a plate. Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make 3 more pizzas.
Note
If your cast iron sandwich maker is not yet seasoned, spray the inside with cooking spray or lightly brush with vegetable oil before using.
