There's nothing more delicious than these wonderful fried green tomatoes in a crispy breading from South Carolina-raised chef Kardea Brown. She not only inspires you to cook "with a love of food" but also invites you to cook with Southern recipes that have been passed down for generations. If you're hosting a dinner party, this recipe makes a great appetizer with green tomatoes and dipping sauce. They can also be served as a side dish with barbecue meats or used in sandwiches and burgers. This recipe calls for regular, unripe tomatoes. Try them with a spicy ranch dressing.

- In a large cast iron skillet, add 2.5 cm of oil and heat over medium-high heat to 190°C.
- Working with one tomato slice at a time, coat it in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Dip it in the egg mixture. Roll it in the breadcrumbs, then transfer it to a plate. Repeat with the remaining tomato slices.
- Fry the tomatoes in batches until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side. Transfer to a wire rack on a baking sheet and season with salt while still hot. Serve warm with ranch dressing.
- Spicy Ranch Dressing:
Ranch dressing accompanies the appetizer as a light dip. Dip your slices and savor the flavor. It's made with buttermilk or a combination of mayonnaise and sour cream, along with herbs, savory spices, and garlic. For added heat, you can add chili sauce..
Mix in a small bowl ranch dressing, Sriracha sauce, sour cream, and paprika. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Homemade seasoning:
Seasoning salt is a seasoning that is often used to enhance flavor without overpowering it. It is typically added at the end of cooking and used to season marinades, sauces, breading mixtures, or batters..
Combine garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt and pepper in a small bowl.
