Sandwiches made of white bread and cheese spread are fairly simple, but they became a popular treat at one fashionable event: the Masters golf tournament in Augusta. However, the cheese spread with pimento peppers originated long before the Masters. The first published recipe dates back to 1908.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • 220 gr. sharp yellow cheddar, grated
  • 110 g grated pepper jack cheese
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 0.5 cup chopped pickled pimento peppers
  • 1 small shallot, grated
  • A pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 8 slices of white bread

We recommend

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Combine cheddar, pepper jack, mayonnaise, pimento, shallots, and cayenne pepper in a medium bowl.
  2. Spread cheese spread on 4 slices of bread and top with the remaining 4 slices of bread.
