Brown button and shiitake mushrooms are sautéed in vegetable oil with garlic and topped with a ginger-based sauce made with ketchup and mayonnaise. This mushroom stir-fry can be served as a side dish with meat or as a standalone vegetarian dish.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon peeled and finely grated ginger root
  • 1 tsp. dark sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 450 g brown mushrooms, cut into 4 pieces
  • 110 g shiitake mushrooms
  • Chopped fresh cilantro, for serving

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a small bowl, combine ketchup, mayonnaise, ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, vinegar, and 1 tablespoon of water. Set aside.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Add the mushrooms and shiitake mushrooms and 2 tablespoons of water. Cook, stirring, until the mushrooms are soft and golden, 7-8 minutes. Add the ketchup mixture and toss to coat. Transfer the mushrooms to a serving platter and garnish with chopped fresh cilantro.
