This easy-to-make dish will make you want to make it again and again. Although served as a side dish, the mashed potatoes are likely to earn more compliments than a juicy piece of meat. For vegetarians, this potato and cheese dish will be a main course. Since it makes quite a lot of mashed potatoes, there's a chance you'll have some leftovers. However, the texture won't be the same when reheated, so you can try forming any leftovers into "patties" and frying them in butter.
The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:
- 1.8 kg potatoes, peeled and cut into 2.5 cm pieces.
- 1 tbsp (15 g) butter
- 1 cup whole milk
- 110 g butter, melted
- 1.5 tbsp. grated mozzarella
- 1 tbsp. grated parmesan
- 2 tablespoons unflavored breadcrumbs

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:
- Preheat oven to 200°C. Grease a 33cm x 23cm x 5cm baking dish with 1 tbsp (15g) butter and set aside.
- Cook the potatoes in a large pot of boiling salted water until very tender, about 15 minutes. Drain. Return the potatoes to the same pot and mash thoroughly with a masher. Stir in the milk and melted butter. Do the same with the mozzarella and 3/4 cup of Parmesan. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Transfer the potatoes to the prepared baking dish. Mix in a small bowl. breadcrumbs and 1/4 cup of the remaining Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle the mixture over the mashed potatoes.
Tip for making ahead
You can continue cooking to this stage, cover the dish and store it in the freezer for 6 hours.. - Bake, uncovered, until the top is golden brown, just before serving (about 20 minutes).
