This vibrant and juicy, vitamin-packed salad is made with finely shredded red cabbage, green onions, cilantro, and basil, dressed with a sweet-and-tart peanut butter sauce instead of traditional mayonnaise. Choose a peanut butter sauce without added salt, as the other ingredients already contain salt. A touch of soy sauce, dark sesame oil, honey, hot mustard, lime juice, and freshly grated ginger give the dressing a wonderful Asian flavor. Chopped roasted peanuts add an extra crunch to the juicy cabbage, a treat even kids will love. This Asian cabbage salad with peanuts is perfect with chicken dishes.



The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.

1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:


  • 2 tablespoons unsalted creamy peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp hot mustard
  • 1 tbsp dark sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp peeled and grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tsp. honey or agave nectar
  • Juice of 1 lime (about 2 tbsp)
  • 6 cups thinly shredded red cabbage (about half a medium head)
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced ​​fresh basil
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced ​​diagonally
  • 2-3 tbsp roasted unsalted peanuts, chopped

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:


  1. In a large bowl, combine the peanut butter, mustard, sesame oil, soy sauce, ginger, honey, and lime juice. Add the cabbage, basil, cilantro, and green onions and toss to coat.
