Start your day with one of these nutritious breakfast bars. Ellie Krieger makes them by blending rolled oats, sunflower seeds, and assorted dried fruits in a food processor, then adding eggs and maple syrup. After baking, this calorie-rich mixture becomes a crunchy, chewy energy bar.

The recipes use measuring containers with the following volumes:
1 glass (st.) - 250 ml.
3/4 cup (st.) - 180 ml.
2/3 cup (st.) - 160 ml.
1/2 cup (st.) - 125 ml.
1/3 cup (st.) - 80 ml.
1/4 cup (st.) - 60 ml.
1 tablespoon (tbsp) - 15 ml.
1 teaspoon (tsp) - 5 ml.
1/5 teaspoon (tsp) - 1 ml.

Ingredients for the recipe:

  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup toasted wheat germ
  • 1/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour

Cooking the dish according to the recipe:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Spray a 22 x 33 cm baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Place all ingredients except the eggs and syrup in a food processor and blend well. Add the eggs and syrup and begin blending. The mixture will resemble a coarse paste.

  3. Transfer to a baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for about 20 minutes until set. Cut the mixture into 20 energy bars.
